In this episode, I reluctantly open up about my almost thirty-year-long personal struggle with uncontrolled seizures and describe the great lengths to which I went to overcome them.

I want to first thank everyone that has supported me through my decades-long adventures with Epilepsy that ultimately led to my role as the host of the Brain Ablaze Epilepsy Podcast. Without my wife, daughter, family, friends, doctors, and the countless thousands of other people with Epilepsy with whom I shared this fight, I wouldn’t be able to be here to try to help others that are affected through seizures.

This fight isn’t about me, but about all of us. Face it, we’re just too sick to take this on alone.

So if you’ve ever woken up in a weird place after a seizure wondering how you’ve got there, experienced the utter annoyance of getting EEG glue out of your hair, or have been overcharged for a redundant ambulance ride after repeatedly telling people around you when one should be called, let me be the first to say “you are not alone”.

Great to meet you, David! This epileptic is very thankful to you for doing all you can to support epileptics by spreading awareness about epilepsy and all we go through because of our crazy brains.

Hi David, I am so sorry that you tried so many medications and experienced nasty side effects from them and that you stopped taking them, then resorted back to suffering tonic clonic and focal seizures aww. But I am so pleased that the neurosurgery worked for you. I am not surprised about what it consisted of and of course what the “feared” consequences/ complications would be. I think I would have feared the same if that was the last resort I would have been panic stricken to be honest but you were ever so brave.
