My hope for this episode is to provide something that can be shared with people that do not experience seizures and illuminate a tiny sliver of the life of an epileptic.
In this episode, I try to describe what I feel before, during, and after the different types of seizures I’ve had, including focal onset and generalized onset tonic-clonic seizures. I also try to dispel some of the common misconceptions that some might have regarding what having a seizure entails.
The number one thing to understand that not all seizures are convulsive. In episodes two and three we covered the basic classifications of seizures. It is important to realize that what one feels before, during, and after a seizure might be completely different than what another feels. Tracking what you feel is very important, as it can help your medical team to pinpoint where your seizures originate in your brain.
