We are certainly living in unprecedented times, as more of the population are forced into isolation due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
In the past, I’ve advocated that members of the Epilepsy community are well equipped to handle this disaster as a lot of us have experienced living in isolation due to the restrictions afforded by our illness.
As of late, however, I’ve noticed more and more social media posts that provide nothing more to the wider community than:
While a lot of us have lived isolated lives, I can’t imagine that we’ve all forgotten how difficult it was for each of us to make that transition.
So, I challenge all of us to reach out to our loved ones, to help them through this unbelievably difficult transition. Whether it is providing tips to occupy their time, teaching them to be just comfortable with their belongings, or just listening to them vent.
Try to make a difference in their lives.
Those of us that have blogs, podcasts, youtube channels, or any other type of media distribution should make an extra effort during this time to make content that reaches out to everyone.
I promise you, for every ounce of leadership we lend now, we will be repaid a pound of empathy when all this is over.
