VNS or (Vagus Nerve Stimulation) can be a new tool for you to control your seizures. In this episode, we invite the author of Vivien’s Rain: My Daughter’s Battle With Epilepsy, Mike Knox, to the show to help us learn more about VNS and how VNS has changed his family’s life.

We want to send a solid “Thank You” to Mike Knox for being so generous to the show with his time.

Vagus Nerve Stimulation is usually reserved for people with intractable focal Epilepsy. Often called the “pacemaker for the brain”, it is not implanted in the skull but the neck. It sends regular pulses of electricity to the Vagus Nerve in the hope to regulate seizures.

A regular Brain Ablaze author, Jo Mackenzie, has also become in her words, a “VNS robot”. She wrote a series of blog entries about her experience with Vagus Nerve Stimulation.
